Where did it all begin?
Slush was founded in 2008 by a small group of Finnish entrepreneurs, who wanted to bring the local startup scene together at least once every year.
Now, five years later, Slush brings more international investors and media to the region than any other event out there.

Why is Slush organized?
We at Startup Sauna believe that it’s the right of every startup to get help in the very beginning. However, we’re able to help only so many companies every year.
This is why we organize Slush – to better utilize our network of companies, investors and media for the greater good of the startups in the region.
Where does it take place?
Slush is organized at the old Cable Factory, located at Tallberginkatu 1 in Helsinki, Finland. This is just a 10-minute drive away from the city centre.
The Cable Factory is currently home to many great startups, while it was once at the heart and soul of the mobile phone revolution started by Nokia.
If pricing is not an issue, we warmly recommend that you take a look at the Klaus K Hotel, located close to the conference venue in downtown Helsinki.
As for our more startup-minded guests, please check out Omena Hotel, which is frequented by startups visiting the city. Discount code is “SLUSH”.
